There has been controversy over the issue on teaching phonics to children. However, more and more children's courses are integrating phonics elements into the syllabus. This implies that many teachers and educators see the value of teaching phonics. For some theorists who do not have teaching experience with EFL children and who totally rely on the whole language, it is not easy to see the value of teaching phonics to children. But for those teachers who do have a very close contact with children everyday, it is easy to see that children make a better progress with learning to read and write with the support of phonics learning. This is particularly true when the children are not familiar with the Roman alphabet scripts.

Phonics Land could be used as part of the lesson with children who need to learn how to read and write. In every lesson, the teacher can spend about 5 minutes to play the phonics games with children. It will take about 50 sessions for children to become confident with reading and writing everyday English words.
